Radeon RX 590 will receive a 12-nm graphics processor
AMD will present the Radeon RX 590 graphics card, which will be the next graphics accelerator based on the Polaris graphics processor. So, Andreas Schilling, editor of HardwareLuxx, confirmed that the Radeon RX 590 is a really existing model, posting photos of it's package. At the same time, it was confirmed that the new product will be built on a graphics processor made by a 12-nm process technology. Note that the current AMD Radeon RX 500 series graphics cards are built on Polaris GPUs, made by 14-nm process technology. New technology should provide better energy efficiency, which should allow to increase the clock speed of the new GPU. Actually, earlier leaks just pointed to an increase in frequency compared to the Radeon RX 580. The new Radeon RX 590 is rumored to be up to 10% faster in terms of performance. The increase is expected at the expense of frequencies, although, perhaps, AMD will make some optimizations in the architecture of Polaris.
