AMD has revealed details about the chipset X570

Along with the announcement of ryzen 3000 desktop processors based on Zen 2 microarchitecture, AMD has officially disclosed details about X570 — a new set of logic for flagship Socket AM4 motherboards. The main innovation in this chipset is support for PCI Express 4.0, but in addition there were some other interesting features.

Immediately it is worth emphasizing that the new motherboard based on the X570, which will appear on the shelves in the near future, built with an eye to work with the bus PCI Express 4.0 initially. This means that all slots on the new boards will be able to work with compatible devices in the new high-speed mode without any reservations (when installed in a Third-generation ryzen processor system). This applies both to the slots connected to the PCI Express bus processor controller, and those slots for which the chipset controller is responsible.

By itself, the x570 logic set is able to provide operation of up to 16 PCI Express 4.0 lines, but half of these lines can be reconfigured into SATA ports. In addition, the chipset has an independent SATA controller on four ports, USB 3.1 Gen2 controller with support for eight 10-Gigabit ports and USB 2.0 controller with support for 4 ports.

However, it should be understood that the work of a large number of peripherals at high speed in systems based on X570 will be limited by the bandwidth of the bus connecting the processor to the chipset. And this bus uses only four lines PCI Express 4.0 in case of installation in the processor Board Ryzen 3000 or four lines PCI Express 3.0 when installing processors of previous generations.
