ASUS has introduced new flagship motherboards Zenith Extreme Alpha and Rampage VI Extreme Omega, which are focused on the most demanding users and allow you to create uncompromising HEDT-system. The first of the new products is designed for processors AMD Ryzen Threadripper, while the second will create a system on Intel Core-X. New items, as you might guess, are improved versions of motherboards Zenith Extreme and Rampage VI Extreme. What exactly are the improvements, ASUS does not specify. Let's say, for example, that problems with fixing socket TR4 CPU socket on Zenith Extreme have been fixed. Also visually you can notice some changes in the design. In addition, the manufacturer has tried to make both boards as similar as possible, despite the fact that they are designed for different HEDT-platforms. The Zenith Extreme Alpha Board is built on an AMD x99 chipset, has four PCIe 3.0 x16 slots and one PCIe 3.0 x4, eight SATA III ports and three PCIe slots, and four USB 3.1 ports, and supports DDR4-3600 memory. In turn, Rampage VI Extreme Omega is built on Intel X299, has three PCIe 3.0 x16 and one PCIe 3.0 x4, six SATA III ports and four M. 2 slot and two USB 3.1, and supports memory DDR4-4266+. Both boards received reinforced power subsystems, which consist of eight phases, each of which is supplemented by a doubler, which provides 16 levels of power. There are a pair of 8-pin EPS connectors to power the CPU socket. Zenith Extreme and Rampage VI Extreme also support the installation of up to eight DDR4 DIMMs with a total capacity of 128GB. The sound subsystem in the new products is built on the 8-channel codec SupremeFX S1220 and is equipped with a DAC ESS Sabre. For network connections in the new boards are responsible Gigabit controller Intel I211-AT and controller Aquantia AQC-107 with a capacity of 10 GB/s.
