Volvo has started production of its first electric car, the XC40 Recharge P8 crossover
Today, October 1, 2020, Volvo Cars announced the start of mass production of its first car with an all-electric powertrain: it became a compact crossover XC40 Recharge P8.

It should be noted that the named electric car was officially introduced about a year ago. However, mass production of the car has only just begun — after the end of the preparatory period, during which the plant in Ghent, Belgium, collected a limited number of prototypes.

The XC40 Recharge P8 crossover is equipped with an electric all-wheel drive system. The power plant reaches 408 horsepower, and it takes 4.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h.

The battery has a protective frame built into the center of the body. This unit is located in the floor, which reduces the center of gravity of the car, improving its rollover resistance. The claimed power reserve on a single charge reaches 418 km, and you can replenish the energy reserve from 0 % to 80 % in about 40 minutes.

The new Android-based infotainment system offers a high level of personalization, as well as built-in Google services and tools such as Google Assistant, Google Maps, and the Google Play Store. The car is able to receive over the wireless network, large software updates, and operating system.
