Sharp has completed the takeover of Toshiba's PC business

On October 1, Sharp and Toshiba announced the completion of a transaction to transfer control of Toshiba Client Solutions (TCS) division from Toshiba to Sharp. The TCS division was wholly owned by Toshiba Corporation and additionally included seven subsidiaries, including Toshiba America Client Solutions (TACS). The latter was a frequent guest of our news column, talking about Toshiba PC-novelties.

Sharp became the owner of the assembly plant TCS in China, the former Toshiba staff of about 2,400 people and the brand "Toshiba". The former name for the associated products is provided by Sharp as a license. Sharp acquired 80.1% of TCS shares in the amount of 4 billion yen ($35.21 million). In addition to the production and maintenance of desktop and mobile PCs under the Toshiba name, TCS is responsible for the production and maintenance of DVRs.
