Japanese company Sega has decided to postpone the release of the retro console Sega Mega Drive Mini for 2019.

Sega Mega Drive Mini was announced this spring on the Sega Fes 2018. According to the description, it should come with a set of pre-installed games on board. Which, however, the company did not specified yet. The console was to be released by the end of 2018 in Japan.

According to Sega, after the announcement, the console received great and unexpected attention from Western users, so the company decided to release the Genesis model for North America and Mega Drive for Europe simultaneously with the Japanese release. But apparently it cannot be done in 2018.

In addition, the company decided to rethink the design of the device in cooperation with the original team of authors Sega Mega Drive, and enlist the support of proven Japanese software developers. The goal is to achieve the level of quality that Sega fans expect to see.
