Nintendo Game Boy - one of the most iconic portable gaming systems of all time, and at the same time one of the most recognizable mobile devices. Currently, Nintendo has shifted the focus to a series to more relevant DS consoles and Nintendo Switch, but maybe the company is considering the revival of Game Boy in one form or another?

According to the patent, Nintendo is working on the idea of creating a special case for a smartphone that would turn it into Game Boy device. A folding case for smartphones, where the front side of the cover has a square cutout for the display, and the rest of the front part includes real buttons that allow you to take control like in a real game controller.

Patentable case is clearly designed with the recognizable style of Game Boy, including the design and placement of the cross with buttons. Accessories that can be connected to smartphones, turning them into game systems with physical controls, have been released before.

Of course, it's just a patent, so there's no guarantee that Nintendo is really going to bring something like this to life. However, fans can still hope for such a development, especially in the context of rumors that Nintendo is considering the release of the Game Boy Classic console after the huge success of NES Classic and SNES Classic.
