iPhone 17 and 17 Plus finally get 120Hz screens
The iPhone Pro smartphones in next year's lineup will see a significant increase in size, while the entry-level iPhone 17 models will finally be equipped with 120Hz displays.

Industry analyst and founder of research firms Display Supply Chain Consultants and DisplaySearch, Ross Young, confirmed his own data that the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will be larger than their predecessors. The first model will have a 6.27-inch display, while the second model will feature a 6.86-inch panel. Apple is likely to designate them as 6.3 and 6.9 inches, respectively.

The displays will have a 120Hz refresh rate and the same Dynamic Island notch. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models will retain the dimensions of their predecessors and have 60Hz displays.

In the iPhone 17 lineup, the higher-end models will feature the same panels as the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, but instead of the Dynamic Island notch, they will only have a cutout for the front camera, and the Face ID module will be fully integrated under the screen. On the other hand, the iPhone 17 and 17 Plus models will retain the Dynamic Island notch but will finally be equipped with 120Hz panels.

Due to his work, Young has access to information related to displays, which often allows him to know more than regular insiders. In particular, he revealed the presence of 120Hz displays in the iPhone 12 Pro and 60Hz displays in the entry-level devices of the lineup.
