Huawei has started to lose ground in the global smartphone market
Counterpoint evaluated the balance of power on the global smartphone scene in August. The market seems to have started to be redefined, which is explained by tough us sanctions against the Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei.

According to Counterpoint calculations, in the second quarter of this year, Huawei led the world with a share of about 20 %. In second place was South Korean company Samsung with about the same indicator, followed by Apple, Xiaomi and OPPO with shares of 11 %, 10 % and 9 %, respectively.

At the end of August, the undisputed leader was the South Korean giant Samsung, showing a result of 22 %. Huawei is now in the second position: the share of this company has fallen to 16 %.

"Bronze" went to Apple — 12 %. China's Xiaomi is still in fourth place with a figure of 11% at the end of last month.

Huawei's share is likely to continue to decline for the foreseeable future. Against this background, suppliers such as OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Vivo and Xiaomi will have a chance to improve their market position.
