Google introduced the Pixel Slate, designed to blur the line between desktop environment and mobile devices. This device is sold in tablet format, but, as well as the obvious competitors like Apple iPad Pro and Microsoft Surface Pro, the most power device acquires with the separately produced accessory-keyboard. Pixel Slate is running by Chrome OS, and the latest versions of this platform are able to run Android applications.

"Google Pixel Slate is a completely new environment. It's not a laptop trying to be a tablet and it's not a smartphone trying to become a desktop system, " said Trond Wuellner of Google — And it's not a tablet that, as a phone, claims to be a computer." It sounds good, but the device and the interface, and technically more like a cross between tablets based on Windows 10 and Android.

Pixel Slate buyers are able to choose the most suitable keyboard, one with round buttons and no touchpad; the other with backlight and touch panel. Both are sold as separate accessories, first through the Google store, and then through third-party retail outlets.

From a technical point of view, Google Slate is equipped with a 12.3-inch LTPS (low-temp Polycrystalline Silicon) display with a resolution of 3000 × 2000 pixels and a brightness of 400 CD/m2, 4 GB RAM (8 or 16 GB), 32 GB SSD (up to 256 GB) and Intel processors. The initial model received a Celeron processor, but there are options with Intel Core m3, i5 or i7 chips of the eighth generation.

Weight of device is only 721 grams and the thickness is 7 mm, the device boasts of a battery of 48 WH (supports high-speed charging), 8-Megapixel cameras on both sides with the ability to record 1080p video at 30 frames/s, interfaces Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (MIMO, 2.4/5 GHz) and Bluetooth 4.2 built into the power button fingerprint scanner with its own controller, dual USB ports-C, support output to 4K displays, stereo speakers, dual microphone, accelerometer, gyroscope, light sensor.

Early device in the version with the blue case will be available until the end of the year through the Google Store in the web-stores and in the Google offline stores. The cost of Google Pixel Slate starts at $600 and goes up to $1600. The keyboard will cost an extra $200, and the Google Pixelbook Pen's digital pen is another $100.
