Even before the official announcement of ASUS motherboards, it became known from the leaks that some of them will support unusual Double Capacity (DC) memory modules. Now the company has officially introduced such models, which are called Trident Z RGB DC.

The standard DDR4 UDIMM RAM module can accommodate up to 16 memory chips. To circumvent this limitation, the company has developed a special printed circuit Board with ASUS, which is able to fit 32 memory chips. Due to this, Trident Z RGB DC modules have a capacity of 32 GB, instead of the standard 16 GB.

These memory modules are only compatible with ASUS ROG Z390 Maximus XI Apex, ROG Maximus XI Gene and ROG Strix Z390-I gaming motherboards. This solution looks very logical, because these boards have only two slots DDR4 DIMM, but due to the new modules Double Capacity they are able to carry the same 64 GB as the board with four slots. In order to support the new modules, the design of the tracks leading to the memory slots has been redesigned on the above motherboards.

The company introduced three sets of Trident RGB DC, each of which consists of two modules with a capacity of 32 GB. One of the sets offers a frequency of 3000 MHz and latency CL14-14-14-34. The other two have a frequency of 3200 MHz and delay CL14-14-14-34 and CL14-15-15-35 In all cases, the operating voltage is 1.35 V. Modules support Intel XMP 2.0 profiles. As you might guess from the name, Trident z RGB DC modules are equipped with customizable RGB-backlight.

The cost of unusual sets of memory Trident Z RGB DC has not yet been disclosed, as well as the date of the beginning of their sales.
