VIA Technologies has announced the release of a small VAB-950 form factor computer, which can be used to create all kinds of devices for the Internet of things, smart home, automation systems, etc.

The product is based on a MediaTek i500 processor with eight computing cores (Cortex-A73 and Cortex-A53 quartets) with a clock frequency of up to 2.0 GHz. The solution is made in the EPIC format with dimensions of 140 × 100 mm.

Modifications with 2 and 4 GB of LPDDR4 SDRAM RAM are available. The graphics subsystem uses the ARM Mali-G72 accelerator, and the eMMC flash module with a capacity of 16 GB is responsible for data storage.

The computer carries on Board wireless adapters Wi-Fi 802.11 ac and Bluetooth 5.0, and optionally a 4G modem can be added to work in LTE cellular networks. Wired connection to the computer network is provided by two Ethernet ports.

Available connectors include an HDMI interface for image output, a full-size USB 2.0 port, a Micro-USB 2.0 connector, and a combined 3.5 mm audio Jack.

It is said about the possibility of using the Android 10 and Yocto 2.6 operating systems. There Is no information about the approximate price of the VIA VAB-950 model at the moment.
